Union for Reform Judaism
Religious School Sub-Committee

Our Religious School Sub-Committee works in partnership with the Rabbi for Lifelong Education to set policy, evaluate programming and promote the highest standard of Jewish learning for our congregation.  In the past, the committee has discussed issues as important and diverse as curriculum changes, policies for discipline, attendance and food, and accreditation by the National Association of Temple Educators. Janet O'Neill chairs this committee.

If you are interested in becoming a member of this committee, please call the Religious School office, 856-489-0035.  You may also e-mail Jean Klein to be placed on the committee’s mailing list.

The January and February meetings of the Religious School Sub-Committee will be “working sessions” towards finishing up the Accreditation Portfolio.   One of our more significant portions of Accreditation is having a committee member observe each class.   The Committee is almost finished with the Sunday morning observations, but still need to do observations during the midweek classes.   The Committee has chosen the following two dates to observe Tuesday and Wednesday evening classes: Wednesday, January 9 at 7 pm and Tuesday, February 5 at 7 pm.  Each observation lasts about 20 minutes and you might visit several classrooms in one evening.  There is a brief form to fill out in each classroom.   The committee will also have a brief meeting on these evening.  Please let Rabbi Cohen know if you are able to participate on either or both of these nights.   We still need to do observations on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.   If you have a free Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon and would be interested in coming in to do observations, please let Rabbi Cohen know.
