Temple Emanuel takes a great deal of care to make sure every Jewish child feels welcome at our Temple and in our Religious School. If your child has a special learning need, please contact Rabbi Debbie Cohen, so that we can meet that need most appropriately.  

Temple Emanuel offers an extensive program for students who need extra help learning Hebrew.   Rena Alpert and Margery Ross coordinate a Hebrew Learning Resource Room and oversee a staff of tutors who work one-on-one or in small groups with students.   

In consultation with parents and, at times, a student’s secular school teacher,  a personalized program is designed for each student. Some students spend part of Hebrew study in the regular classroom with other students and part of the time with the tutor.  Others study only with the tutor.  Often, teachers identify students in need of some individual assistance.
