Ritual Committee
Light Article: September 2011
What a wonderful time of year! Starting with Selichot Services on September 24th as a time of reflection and preparation for the High Holy Days, to the celebration of Rosh Hashanah (September 28) and sanctity of Yom Kippur (October 7), culminating in the dedication of our Torah scroll during Simchat Torah on October 21st after months of tremendous effort. And that is only the beginning of the Jewish year!
The Ritual Committee, in collaboration with our clergy, has been busy planning Services, events, and programs in accordance with our mission. This year, as part of our High Holy Day Services, we will be conducting a junior congregation – renamed Tween T’filah – for our students in 4th through 7th grades. This Service, co-led by students and educators, will offer an interactive and thoughtful forum for prayer and discussion.
The Ritual Committee is excited that Mama Doni, a high energy musical group, will present an interactive family rock concert to celebrate Sukkot on Wednesday evening, October 12. This event will begin with a BBQ dinner at 6 pm followed by the concert at 7 pm. I look forward to sharing our Sukkot celebration with you.
We are also preparing for the re-dedication of our restored Torah scroll on Simchat Torah (October 21st), as well as the dedication ceremony of the Outdoor Chapel in November.
With such diverse and exciting Services, programs and events, I encourage you to join us by getting involved and assisting us in our efforts.
A Ritual Committee meeting is scheduled for September 12th at 7:30 pm at the Temple and I hope to see you there!
