I can hardly believe that September is upon us. We all ask the ubiquitous question -- where did the summer go? Each of us, of course, has a different and varied answer which, I hope, we can share with one another.
Like everyone, we are getting ready for the holidays, the New Year, and the beginning of another schedule of Senior Group activities. It feels like we have so much to look forward to. And perhaps that’s part of the message of this season.
Our Senior Group Committee had (by early August no less!) completed the schedule of our monthly programs. Keep a watchful eye and we think you’ll be pleased by the lineup. Here’s just a taste of forthcoming brown bag lunch meetings.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
On Wednesday, September 21, the opening program, we welcome our local New Jersey Assemblywoman, Pamela Lampitt. Pam spoke to our group a few years ago and we enjoyed her insightful description of what it was like to be a new Assemblywoman. Now Pam has several years of experience and much to share with us.
Friday, October 28 brings our always anticipated Senior Dinner and services, one of the highlights of our year. Elaine Kooperstein has once again negotiated a delicious menu. I’m beginning to feel my taste buds salivating just thinking about it. We will welcome as guest speaker Temple Emanuel’s new president, Adrienne Mintz. Then we will join together for the Senior Shabbat Service in which many of our group will participate. Look for the announcement and be sure to send in your reservations promptly!
Wednesday, November 16, continuing the activities of T.E.’s 60th anniversary, the Senior Group will celebrate with a special recognition of the Temple’s past presidents. Join us and Adrienne Mintz as we meet these important people; hear them recount their temple experiences; and reconnect with your own past memories.
Later in the year, we will hear from Rabbi Newburge, Ann Strauss, Andrea Malamut, Rabbi Sussman of Keneseth Israel and more.
Our committee has chosen topics of wide interest and variety – something for everyone. Be sure to pack your lunch and come join us.
A happy and healthy New Year to everyone!
