This lecture by Ira S. Miller, PhD., will take a look at two of the most important Jewish film composers from the Golden Age of Cinema, Max Steiner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

The Rise of Anti-Semitism in Europe around World War I and then due to the rise of Adolf Hitler less than two decades later caused the music of Jewish composers to be banned by the Nazis and resulted in many Jewish composers and musicians fleeing to the US. This lecture looks at the lives and film music of two such important composers from the Golden Age of Cinema: Max Steiner and Erich von Korngold.
