In parasha Toledot, meaning generations, we learn about the generations which begin with Isaac. Isaac's wife, Rebecca, is pregnant with twins, Jacob and Esau. Even before the twins are born, they fight in their mother's womb, a struggle that will continue throughout most of their lives.

Torah Study will be held tomorrow morning at 9:15 am in the Library. Dress is casual. Bring a friend. Enjoy coffee, camaraderie and good conversation. Shabbat Morning Services will be held tomorrow at 10:30 am

Please join Sisterhood for our fabulous Holiday Bazaar on December 3, 2006, from 9 - 2 P.M. in the Social Hall. Our many vendors will have something for everyone's taste and budget. Plan to stop by our Spinning Dreidel Cafe for breakfast or lunch. Remember that your children will have an opportunity to shop at the Maccabee Mart during Religious School for gifts for loved ones. A “How to Do --- Hanukkah” Workshop will be held on Monday, December 4 at 9:15 am in our Parenting Lounge. Join Rabbi Geri Newburge for this informative and interesting program. RSVP to Jeanie at (845) 489-0034.

Sisterhood will be holding a Hanukkah Party on Thursday, December 7th at 7:30 pm. To join in the fun, bring a toy for a tot, or a pair of sweat socks to send to our soldiers. Desserts are welcome, and please bring the recipe. RSVP to Felice Friedman at (856) 482-9146.

A Hanukkah party for active adults will be held on Wednesday, December 13 from 12:30 to 4 pm. A salad bar lunch, accompanied by latkes and blintzes will be served. After lunch, Woody Allen’s “Radio Days”, will be shown in the Chapel, followed by a discussion with Rabbi Cohen. Sufganyot (donuts) and coffee will be served. The fee is $8 per person. Yiddish Class with Al Rubin is held every Thursday evening (except Thanksgiving) at 7:30 pm in the Library. You can join this fun group any time. For more information, call Al at 856-278-7313.

The Temple Emanuel Book Club will meet on Sunday, December 10 and Monday December 11 at 9:15 am. This month’s selection is In the Image by Dara Horn. Rabbi Cohen will facilitate the discussion. RSVP to the receptionist at (856) 489-0029 x10.

Casserole Cooking will take place in the Temple Emanuel kitchen on Tuesday, December 12th at 7 pm. All are welcome to participate in this wonderful mitzvah project.

The Social Action committee is sponsoring a Holiday Toy Drive from November 27th thru December 14th. Please bring unwrapped new toys, games, children’s books and gifts for teens and leave them in the bins inside the Religious School entrance. They will be distributed to local community service organizations to provide holiday gifts for needy children. Temple Emanuel’s Men’s Club will hold a brunch on Sunday, December 17th at 10 am. The topic is “What You Did Not Learn in Hebrew School.” All are welcome.

Our Caring Community Committee is looking for volunteers to assist in getting members to Friday Night Services, to doctor’s appointments and food shopping. Consider joining our new Website Committee, whose goal is to keep our Temple Emanuel website current. We are working on establishing a mission statement and goals for the site. Kol Emanuel, our Adult Choir, is always looking for new voices. If you like to sing and would like to join this talented group, contact the Temple office at (856) 489-0029.

As winter approaches, please note the numbers used to announce school cancellation or a delay in opening. For the Religious School, the number for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, as well as both Sunday sessions, is 638. For Tuesday and Wednesday evening sessions, the number is 2638. The Pre-School at Temple Emanuel uses the number 1255. We also contact local TV stations who run closing information on the bottom of the television screen. If there are any questions, you can always call the Temple at (856) 489-0029. A phone message will always be left on that line with the most updated information.

Did you know those stores Gift Cards (also known as SCRIP) are available for more than just grocery stores? And – Sisterhood has them! We have bookstores, restaurants, department stores and much more available. For a complete list of available stores and gift card denominations, please pickup the current list and order form at the Temple, or contact Jessica E. Chasen at [email protected] or (609) 929-4726. Orders are placed weekly for any cards we don’t have in stock today. For our past supporters, don’t worry – you can still purchase Shop Rite and Stop & Shop in the Temple Office as before. All purchases help fund our Temple Sisterhood and ultimately our synagogue. Thank you for your support.
